Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 Overview
There is not much physical difference between gen 1 and the new generation recon 200. It’s still a wired headset that needs to be charged for the extra bass and volume. The headset comes with separate buttons for Xbox and PlayStation, making it easy to set it up for different gaming machines. It also works great on the Nintendo Switch.
Physical keys are available on the left earcup which is volume control, microphone volume control, platform switch key along with USB Type-C for charging. The platform switch key has three settings, one for Xbox, one for PlayStation, and one Off. Although the headset works on the Off setting too, it just lacks bass boost.
The Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 comes with updated ear pads that have now been changed to mesh fabric. The mesh fabric makes the headphones comfortable to wear and glasses-friendly. Air passes through the mesh fabric and heat does not get accumulated on the ears, which also helps in getting rid of the complaint of sweating. But a negative aspect of this is that these headphones are no longer optimized for sound isolation. Sound leaks through the headphones even at half volume and the person sitting next to you can tell what you are listening to.

How does Turtle Beach Recon 200 Gen 2 perform?
The ear pads handle the heat and sweat problem very well. The headset supports the spatial sound feature very well and leaves no room for complaint on any platform. The battery even exceeded the claimed time. Turtle Beach claims a backup of 12 hours, but the headset lasts for around 14 hours. Considering other headsets available in the market, it is not much. But considering the price, we can’t complain. Due to the wired headset, there is no fear of death in the middle of its gaming sessions as the headset continues to run even after the battery is exhausted, only the difference in sound comes.
